We had an idea for four beers per season, four seasons of the year, but now we just play. This is about making the good stuff, and having fun doing it, too.

Like our labels? Most of our design is done by the local and awesomely-talented Naturally Pure & Distinct!

"Stops and goes" describes summer travel in Canada - whether it's construction or meeting another piece of machinery on the road. This beer is a gose ("goesuh"): our version of a lightly salty, fruity, herbal and tart wheat beer meant to reward stopping for a pint when we reach a destination, and traffic no longer matters. Prost!

Sick of marauding armies, our brewer's ancestors left the Palatinate as refugees in the early 1700s for England, taking the first Palatine ship to New York City, and spread out over cities and country alike, establishing the Rohrbach lines that survive to this day. This beer honours this story, using German malts in an English way with American hops to make a refreshing pale ale, meant to survive the times. Enjoy a Palatine Pale!

Cornwall was Native countryside for millenia. In the late 1700s, it was named Pointe Maligne by the French, then renamed twice by United Empire Loyalists: Royal Township #2, which then became New Johnstown. This British style is not particulary bitter, and very drinkable. The "bitter" moniker signified it as using hops more than its historical contemporaries. Here's to New Johnstown's Best Bitter. Cheers (and thanks to Stuart Manson for setting our historical details straight on this one)!

City and Country brewers used a piece of evergreen on their alestake (a pole) announcing they had beer to serve. This beer celebrates the other "green" in brewing: hops, which are used for aroma, flavour, bitterness, and preservation. Those who like hoppy beers, like this India Pale Ale (IPA), celebrate their releases and drink them fresh, as patrons seeing an evergreen bough on the brewer's alestake did in the past. That's when IPA becomes IP Yay. Cheers for Alestake and Evergreen IPA!

Hops! Hops! Hops! Brewed in collaboration with a local homebrewer, Arthur Welcher, for whom the beer is named, Welcher's Hop Juice is a big, aromatic, flavourful, and bitter Vermont-inspired double IPA that will satisfy any hophead's cravings. Cheers!

City and country dwellers alike look forward to the unusual event that is an eclipse. A penumbra is  the lightest part of an eclipse shadow. Penumbra is also our black IPA that isn't quite black, owing to our brewer's avowal to keep roasted malts low enough to colour the beer, but not drive it into American Stout territory. It's a beer worth looking forward to ;)

Hunting is a rural and urban pastime that sometimes gets a bad rap from a few irresponsible individuals. Responsible hunters are environmental stewards that contribute to wildlife management, get out to enjoy nature, and once in a while get to put meat on the table. Our brewer built this easy-drinking brown ale to go with grilled red meats, and swears he'll save some White-Tail Brown Ale to enjoy with his next deer harvest.

Late is an American Pale Ale that carries aromas of grapefruit, peach, and mango from the hops along with a refreshing bitterness, soft grainy malts, and a smooth finish. Late is so named because many craft breweries come out with an American Pale Ale as a first offering in their line-up, but we waited over half a year; and the technique for producing the hop aroma and flavour in this beer is called late-hopping. Better late than never, right?

Summer ... Cali style. Californiation is a California Common Ale - a twist on a pale ale that features some toasty malt, caramel undertones, and balanced minty and woodsy hops, and a refreshing effervescence.

The name "Oblah Da" comes from Jimmy Scott-Emuakpor's saying "obladi oblada, life goes on, brah" that Paul McCartney made into a Beatles' song. The song was a great homage to reggae/highlife music, despite the troubles and toil that went into making the recording we know. Something like that goes on in the brewery too in making beer ;)

Fruity, slightly sweet, chocolate, roast, and some caramel malts that give combine with the chocolate malt to give some people a molasses note - that's Oblah da. Stout, tropical style.

Coming Soon

The tanks currently house more rounds of our regulars, along with an English IPA and American IPA. An Amber Cream Ale is in planning, as is a Robust Porter, and the Strong Scotch Ale will find its way back into the rotation this fall!

Bring on Spring! Frühlingsfest (Springfest) is our take on a Munich Helles, a traditional, beautifully-balanced, delicately hoppped and delicately malty German lager. We'd do lagers more often, but man, they take time if you're doing them traditionally (which we always do).

City and country Canadians alike wait for the months of summer, when the sun shines and the weather warms. This is hallmarked by the summer solstice - the root words of which are the latin Sol Sistere (soul-sister-eh, literally, "sun stop"). This toasty blonde ale carries aromas of pineapple and citrus, and drinks easily, though it's full of flavour - a session ale that might just be worth celebrating with the Sun.

This tavern-strength Saison was a collaboration with local home brewer Sebastien Dubord, for whom Saison Dubord is named. Peppery yeast give way to a citrusy middle with lemon undertones, grainy maltiness, and a bone-dry finish. Historically, these were refreshments for farm workers in the summer months - goes great with summer, for country and city dwellers alike.

Belgian blue bulls are curiosities - muscular, strong, and beautiful, they are genetic oddities that lack a feedback mechanism to stop producing muscle. Belgian beers are curiosities as well - high in alcohol, but drinkable, and often - as with this belgian golden strong - dangerously so.  The label gives it away - this beer is delicious, but Dangereux. You have been warned ;)

Beer samples at Traquair House in Scotland were the genesis of our brewer's interest in beer creation. To honour this, Nineteenth (as in the nineteenth hole, another homage to Scotland's inventiveness) is a strong scotch ale released for our Grand Opening in April 2016. This beer is the "opposite of an IPA" - malty and tasty, but easy-drinking for its alcohol content.

Copper-coloured with a dark heart, exhibiting flavours and aromas of coffee, cocoa, sweet smoke, and caramel, our Darkness in Light Pale Stout is a bold and complex beer that would pair well with breakfast, dessert, nuts, and shore lunches. This is our latest educational installation in our "never judge a beer by its colour" series ;)

Most of Earth's landmass is located North of the Equator, and the dark of winter around the New Year is something only the northern half of that hemisphere experiences. This culminates at Winter Solstice, the day when the Sun spends the least amount of time above the horizon. This beer, too, is dark, but celebratory. Cocoa notes, a cranberry tartness, and an oatmeal stout base. It's a darkness you can relish. Enjoy Solstice Cocoa Cranberry Oatmeal Stout!

The India Pale Ale style began in urban England, but now has many interpretations. #hopkisses is a complex English-style IPA with a few American notes: fruity yeast, marmalade and citrus hop aroma and flavour, toasty malt, the slightest hint of caramel complexity, and a very smooth, but assertive, bitter finish.
